of the water just a short distance from the sand, offering an excellent vantage point to view the

entire layout of the coastline.

Access to Parrot Rock depends entirely on the daily tides. During low tide, a sandy strip is

exposed, allowing visitors to walk comfortably through knee-deep water to reach the base of

the rock. A set of rustic wooden steps and handrails built into the rock face allows travelers to

climb safely to the flat summit.

Standing at the top of Parrot Rock provides a panoramic view across the curved sweep of

Mirissa Beach on one side and the rocky coastline leading toward Weligama on the other. It is a

popular spot to watch surfers catch waves along the reef break or to enjoy the sea breeze as the

tide changes. Visitors must watch the water levels closely, as high tide can quickly cut the island

off from the mainland, making a walk back through the surf an adventurous finish to the visit.
